Grant has been in practice at the Chancery Bar for over 35 years, advising and engaging in litigation in property disputes, disputes between shareholders and partners, trusts, the estates of deceased persons, the taxation implications of those matters, and professional negligence arising out of those areas.


Experience and Expertise

Grant Crawford has considerable experience in the work of the Chancery Division, both traditional and more commercial, including cases heard in the county courts, and both at first instance and on appeal. He is an accredited mediator.


Cases and Work of Note

Included in Grant’s many reported cases are the landmark decisions in the House of Lords in Craven v White [1989] AC 398, in which the effectiveness of artificial tax avoidance schemes was reconsidered and the applicable principles refined, and Target Holdings Ltd v Redferns [1996] AC 421, which concerned the liability of a solicitor to his mortgagee client in the context of a probable mortgage fraud, and definitively analysed his obligations as a trustee of the mortgage moneys.
