Our Restructuring & Insolvency Conference 2025 is on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. This half day conference will feature leading practitioners discussing the latest developments and challenges in Restructuring & Insolvency. The agenda is as follows:
- A session on evidence
Andy Hobbs of Assurety and Ellie Spencer of RWK Goodman with James Morgan KC, will examine the intersection between evidence, proof and the psychology of witnesses in insolvency proceedings. - Strategic issues in Cross Border Insolvency and how to tackle them
Ailar King of Interpath Advisory and Henry Tucker of Harneys together with Martin Ouwehand will address selected legal and practical issues commonly arising from the recognition of insolvency practitioners, the carrying out of investigations into claims and assets and the pursuit of remedies for the purposes of cross-border insolvency proceedings. - Common Pitfalls in Bankruptcy and Winding-up Petitions
Dipesh Dosani of Lincoln & Rowe and Louis Grandjouan will look at common pitfalls (and the occasional horror story) in bankruptcy and winding-up petitions. For example, what should you think about when a client first instructs you? What sort of debts are sufficient to found a petition? How and when should you oppose a petition? They will discuss these and other practical issues, and how to deal with problems when they arise. - What’s so special about special administration?
Kristina Kicks of Interpath, Peter Manley of DLA Piper and Dan Conway of FRP Advisory together with Kate Rogers, will explore what makes special administration regimes distinctive, focusing on PESAR and IBSAR. They will discuss how these frameworks operate in practice, the challenges they present, and what future developments might look like. - S423 – transactions defrauding creditors
Sophia Bompas of Edwin Coe will be joined by Reuben Comiskey and Chloe Shuffrey to discuss transactions defrauding creditors. - Restructuring Plans
Matthew Weaver KC and Lauren Kreamer will discuss the Court of Appeal’s recent decisions giving out of the money creditors a larger share of the pie in Restructuring Plans and debate whether this shift in judicial attitude is the right approach together with the possible arguments against it. - Insolvent estates
Hannah Davie of Grant Thronton will join Jonathan Edwards and Andrew Brown to discuss the practicalities of obtaining an insolvent estate order in respect to a deceased individual, what complex issues and pitfalls might arise, and how the process might be used to recover assets for the benefit of the deceased’s creditors. - What is the Next Big Thing in R&I?
Carla Matthews of PwC, Sanjay Desai, Tim Wright of Carey Olsen and Hayley Çapani of Shoosmiths will discuss the trends, innovations and challenges shaping the future of restructuring and insolvency. Drawing on their diverse perspectives from advisory, risk management and legal practice, the panel will explore what’s on the horizon for practitioners and the market alike.
