Gordon is a leading commercial and Chancery practitioner with considerable experience both as a barrister and a Deputy Chancery Master. He has a particular interest in the regulation of sport and is currently the Chairman of the England Hockey Appeal Panel and a member of the Judicial Commission of the International Hockey Federation. He was appointed Disciplinary Commissioner of the FIH with effect from January 2013.
Gordon has been consistently recommended by Chambers UK as a leading traditional Chancery practitioner. A recent edition of Chambers UK notes that he is "an extremely able chancery practitioner, who handles both traditional and commercial cases with ease and dexterity."
He has a broad practice, ranging from multi-million pound disputes in the Commercial Court to Applications for statutory Wills in the Court of Protection, and including most areas of the Law normally litigated in the Chancery Division. His experience as a Deputy Chancery Master (appointed in 2002) enables him to provide for his clients a clear and above all practical approach to litigation and procedure.
His practice reflects his keen interest in sport. He has advised on a wide variety of sporting matters, in particular the management of sports clubs and governing bodies, the drafting of club constitutions, and the obtaining of charitable status by organisations concerned with sport.
He also has considerable experience in the drafting and enforcement of disciplinary regulations concerned with sport and was a member of the Hockey Jury of Appeal at the 2012 Olympics.
