Members of the public/individuals, companies and charities can instruct barristers under the Public Access scheme (sometimes referred to as Direct Access) without the need to instruct a solicitor.
A selection of barristers can accept instructions directly under this scheme, rather than via a solicitor in the traditional way. Only barristers who have completed special training are permitted to accept instructions providing your case falls within our core practice areas.
Not every case is suitable for Public Access (they may be particularly complex, for example), however, if you have an enquiry and would like to explore the possibility of engaging one of our barristers directly, please complete our online enquiry form ensuring you complete all the relevant information which will then be forwarded to our public access team for consideration. If there are any deadlines in place, please do make it clear on the form.
One of our team will then assess the information and come back to you within 2 working days (subject to urgency) and let you know whether we’re able to accept your instructions. If any further information is required from you before we’re able to confirm acceptance of the instructions, one of our team will contact you.
For the avoidance of doubt, our barristers do not enter into Conditional Fee Agreements (known as “no win, no fee”) under the Public Access Scheme.
