John Clark
Head of Clerking
John began his clerking career in 1991 and has held the position of Senior Clerk (now Head of Clerking) since 2004.
As well as leading the clerks’ room, John is responsible (alongside Chief Executive, Paul Newhall) for the strategic development of chambers and individual members’ practices and plays a central role in building and maintaining new and existing relationships both domestically and internationally.
John has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the specialist practice areas in which Radcliffe members operate and is acutely aware of clients’ needs and expectations and strives to ensure Radcliffe provides a highly efficient and elite level service both from the clerking team and members alike.
As Head of Clerking, John oversees all our key practice areas in chambers with particular focus on Private Client/Offshore, Tax, Pensions, Charities and Banking and Financial Services, together with Radcliffe’s team of silks.
John is always available to discuss allocation of work, fees, diary management or any other aspect of a member’s practice. He is widely recognised for taking a sensible, pragmatic and commercial approach with clients and “excellent at getting the right barrister for the right case…”
He is supported by a first-class clerking team including Lee Wright (Deputy Head of Clerking) and Callum Clark (Senior Practice Manager) who together with Isabel Bertram (Head of BD and Marketing) ensure all aspects of our clients’ expectations are met.
