The High Court has granted a one year injunction against Persons Unknown to restrain unauthorised encampments and fly-tipping on Chobham Common. In granting the injunction, the Court recognised the important ecological significance and recreational value of the Common, and its need for protection against the harms associated with those activities. Unlike many other so-called ’Traveller injunctions’, the relief was not sought and granted under s187B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
Natalie Pratt acted for the successful local authority, Surrey County Council.
