Zachary Kell appears in The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2024 for Upham & Others v HSBC UK Bank PLC (the ‘Eclipse Litigation’), due to commence later this month.

Described as a case with “all the hallmarks of a Hollywood blockbuster”, two sets of claims are due to be heard against HSBC later this month. The claim in which Zachary appears is for an overall £1.4billion sought by hundreds of investors and involves alleged deceit, conspiracy and joint tort-feasance stemming from the global bank’s supposed tax-advantaged film investment scheme, ‘Eclipse’. The upcoming trial is of a sample of the claimants who invested in the scheme and allegedly suffered significant losses as a result.
