Caroline Bolton and Natalie Pratt appear in the Supreme Court in the appeal of Wolverhampton City Council & Ors v London Gypsies and Travellers & Ors

On Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 February, Caroline Bolton and Natalie Pratt will be appearing in the Supreme Court for the Third to Tenth Respondent local authorities in the appeal of Wolverhampton City Council & Ors v London Gypsies and Travellers & Ors (that being the appeal from London Borough of Barking and Dagenham & Ors v Persons Unknown & Ors [2022] EWCA Civ 13, in which Caroline and Natalie represented eight of the successful local authority Appellants).

The issue before the Court is whether the Court can grant final injunctions that prevent persons, who are unknown and unidentified at the date of the order (ie. a ‘newcomer’), from occupying and trespassing on land. Whilst arising in the context of Traveller Injunctions, the issue on appeal is of much wider significance to persons unknown injunctions generally, and especially those sought to restrain acts of protest.

More information on the appeal can be found here.

Caroline and Natalie are regularly instructed on Traveller and protestor injunction applications. If you would like more detail on instructing Caroline and Natalie, please contact the Clerks.
