Taj v Ali [2020] EWHC 213 Fam

Tom Dumont KC was recently successful acting for the Beneficiaries of an Estate worth many tens of millions of pounds, in upholding a rare appeal on a probate issue, before Mr Justice MacDonald in the Family Division.

The Beneficiaries were asking for an account from the Executor, who had not accounted for over 10 years, and who now appeared to own several properties formerly owned by the Estate. The Deceased had been a barrister, who had made his fortune in property. The judge reviewed both the history and the rationale of the inventory and account, and gave a clear and robust judgment.
